Man dies after falling from tree

A 22 year-old man at Mkopita Village in Mangochi district has died after falling from a Baobab tree.

Mangochi Police Station Assistant Public Relations Officer Amina Tepani Daudi identified the deceased as Sadik M’bwana.

Baobab treeAn eyewitness told police that he was harvesting groundnuts at his garden and saw the deceased climbing a nearby Mlambe tree. But upon reaching ten meters high M’bwana lost balance and fell down.

“Unfortunately he died at the same spot,” said the witness. Daudi said a post-mortem conducted at Makanjira Health Centre revealed that the death was caused by a head injury and loss of blood due to a fracture on the left arm.

M’bwana hailed from Kwilatsa village, Sub-Traditional Authority Lulanga in Mangochi.

Last month another man died in s similar incident in the same district.
