…Jack gets promoted

In what could best get the blessing in disguise tag, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers interim coach Jack Chamangwana has returned to his position as the team’s Technical Director, Malawi24 can confirm.

On Monday evening, Wanderers’s executive committee had a crisis meeting following the team’s poor run of form in the league where it resolved to promote Eliya Kananji as the head coach with immediate effect.

Kananji, who was demoted by the club earlier this year, was playing second fiddle to Chamangwana as he was sidelined in some of the decisions within the technical panel.

Wanderers’s 2-3 defeat to Mafco FC on Sunday in the Super League, provoked supporters who demanded for the removal of Chamangwana as the team’s head coach.

The executive bowed down to the pressure as they have now officially handled the team to Kananji, who will be deputised by Eddington Ng’onamo. On Tuesday, Chamangwana did not report for training, signifying the end of the road as the team’s coach.

Despite this development, Chamangwana will still be the powerful man within the technical panel because a technical director is more powerful than the coach.

Earlier on the day, Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira called for a press briefing where he apologized to the fans for the recent poor run of form.

“We are very sorry for the performance. We are responsible but we are hoping to turn the tables around.”

“It’s a very big club with quality players and the results we are getting are unacceptable. We are very sorry,” said Madeira.

Peter Wadabwa also apologized to the fans on behalf of the players.

The Nomads have only managed to collect 6 points from the possible 15 and the lie on tenth position.
