Mutharika to celebrate 125 years of st Michaels and all

Malawi President Peter Mutharika will on Sunday attend the 125 years celebrations of the St Michaels and All Angels Church of the Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) Blantyre Synod.

Mutharika accepted to attend the celebrations after the organizing committee invited him when they met at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Thursday.

Mutharika said that 125 years is worth celebrating and encouraged the church the church to continue its works of supporting government in departments of education, health and sports.

“I feel greatly honoured and privileged that the church saw it fit to brief me on celebrations slated this weekend not only as Head of State but also as a member of the church,” wrote Mutharika on his official Facebook page.

According to the Chairperson of the Organising committee Stain Singo, the celebrations will start on 14 May with sporting activities at Henry Henderson Secondary School ground followed by Sunday service the next day.

Singo said that Mutharika will be requested to plant M’bawa tree to mark the history of the celebrations and later he is expected to read scriptures from the Holy Bible.
