Dickson Twea, father of Edward Twea who is a Supreme Court of Appeal Judge, has dragged 45 year-old White Nkhoma to court on behalf of his son.

According to Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu Police Station Martin Bwanali, the theft docket was opened at Enukweni in Mzimba district.

Bwanali said the suspect is a tobacco tenant to the father of the Judge and he started working with the family in November 2015.

On 1st May 2016, family members were harvesting in the Judge’s maize field. Afterwards the suspect and his friend were told to ferry the harvested cob maize home.

It was during that time when Nkhoma stole the maize. He put cob maize weighing about 20 Kgs in a sack bag and hid the bag.

However, other people saw the suspect hiding the bag and alerted the owner. The suspect was taken to Enukweni Police for police action.

When interrogated, he claimed that he stole the maize due to hunger. He told the police he was last given free food in January 2016.

However, efforts to settle the issue outside the court proved futile as it is the complainant’s wish to see the suspect go through court process. The suspect will therefore answer charges of theft.

Nkhoma hails from Makupira village t/a Mabuka in Mulanje district.

  1. It’s a trick. The owner doesn’t want to pay the tenant the money they agreed. How can someone keep his tenants for 4 Months without food? Atfer this case of10KG maize, drag the boss to court as well for sturving his tenants. And same court should ensure that the tenant get his due payment.

  2. And what’s so bizarre about this? The father to the judge showed respect to the law by seeking justice through appropriate channels rather than administer mob justice on the suspect.
