Mzuzu police officer dies in hit and run accident

Mzuzu Police Station has lost one of its police officers following the death of an officer who was hit by a vehicle last night at Luwinga in Mzuzu city.

According to sources, the officer – whose name has been withheld by the Mzuzu Police since they are yet to inform his parents — with his brother went to a social weekend at Mzuzu University.

PoliceHe met his fate while coming from the university; a vehicle hit him and sped away.

The officer was rushed to Mzuzu Central Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

His remains are being kept at the hospital’s mortuary.

Meanwhile, Mzuzu police have said that investigations on the matter are underway.

The deceased was single and was among the 150 officers the station received last year.
