Two jailed for ‘stealing bones of a dead person’

Machinga second grade Magistrate court on Wednesday sentenced a teenager and an old woman for trespassing and tampering with a grave at a village in Machinga district.

cemetaryThe two have been identified as Faison Walusa, 18, and Sime Daimani. State prosecutor MacRhino Lungu said Walusa was also answering charges of being found with human bones.

The woman however was only answering charges of trespassing since she directed Walusa and three others to the grave Chiuja Kenneth who died after committing suicide.

According to Lungu, Walusa and the other three thugs who are at large exhumed the body of Kenneth and took ten pieces bones.

Passing his judgement, second grade magistrate Maxwell Boasi said what the convicts did was inhuman.

He then sentenced them to two years imprisonment with hard labour.

Walusa comes from Mozambique whereas Sime Daimani is from Chigomile village in Traditional authority Ngokwe of Machinga district.
