An 18 year-old man died on Sunday after being hit by a tree trunk which he was cutting in Machinga district.
Police in the district identified him as Anusa Kalonga of Mawila village in the area of traditional authority Chamba in the district.
Police told our reporter that Kalonga was employed by Rodrick Sayilenga of Sitima village to cut a big tree in Chikala hill for charcoal burning.
Both the employer and relatives of the deceased started searching for Kalonga after realising that he had not returned home in the evening.
That is when they found him dead under the trunk.
“The report reached our office which forced us to visit the scene and we found him dead,” Sulumba said.
