Mighty Be forward Wanderers head coach Jack Chamagwana has expressed discontent over the referee’s decision to award Nyasa Big Bullets a penalty in the 1-1 Blantyre derby draw at the Kamuzu stadium.
Referee John Phiri made the big call in the 39th minute after Felix Zulu was judged to have handled the ball in the box.
Chiukepo Msowoya stepped in to restore parity after Amos Bello had put the Nomads in front in the 12th minute.
But Chamangwana was not amused and he labelled the penalty “cheap”. He however conceded that his team could have won the game in the first half had they converted their chances.
“It was a cheap penalty, although it was a handball but it wasn’t worthy to be a penalty but those are things that happens in football.
“We had a good game especially in the first half, we punched the ball forward and we created some chances, I think we could have won the match unfortunately we missed a lot,” he said.
Chamangwana then revealed that Jafalie Chande could make his debut with his new employers in midweek’s Presidential Cup game against Cobbe Barracks.
Said Chamangwana: “Chande could be available next week, he has just trained with us for two days and will hopefully play in our midweek cup game.”
