…as Bullets fail to prove their case

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) disciplinary committee has ruled that midfielder Jafallie Chande did not breach any contract in signing for Mighty Be Forward Wanderers after Nyasa Big Bullets failed to produce enough evidence to pin the player.

The development comes barely a few days before Bullets dates Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets protested Chande’s move to Wanderers claiming that the player had a contract with them which was supposed to end in August next year.

However, FAM disciplinary committee has ruled that the striker had no contract that was expected to run beyond February 13, 2016.

“It is the Committee’s finding that the complainants have failed to prove their case on a balance of probabilities.

“While greatly sympathising with the complainants on the theft of valuable documents from their offices including player contracts. The Committee cannot find on the basis of the evidence placed before it that the respondent had a contract with the complainants that run beyond February 13, 2016,” reads part of the statement posted on FAM’s Facebook page.

The committee has also concluded that Chande did not flout procedures by joining Wanderers hence he is eligible to play for them.

“The Committee finds it more probable than not that the respondent’s contract with the complainants expired on February 13, 2016.

“He was as from that date a free agent. There was, therefore, nothing illegal or irregular with him signing for the Nomads,” Reads another part of the post.

Meanwhile the player will start training with his new club today if he will receive an official letter from FAM informing him that he has been cleared to play for Wanderers and he will be in contention to make his debut for the Nomads when they will be facing Bullets on Saturday.

Chande rejected a contract extension with the Super League champions as he was demanding K3 million signing-on fee.

There is one contract copy signed in August 2014  which states that the duration of the contract is three years.

But Chande maintained he did not recognize that contract.

He claimed his contract with Bullets is the one which is supposed to end by August 2016 and not 2017 as Bullets says.

The FA then took charge of the case.

The two teams play on Saturday in Blantyre in the league.
