A 19 year-old young man who went to drink at a drinking joint in Thyolo district was found murdered on Monday, Malawi Police officers say.
According to the assistant Police public relations officer for Limbe Widson Nhlane, the deceased has been identified as Steward Machinjiri.
Nhlane said the deceased left his home around 10pm on 24 April 2016 and went to a drinking joint within Bvumbwe court in the district.
”The deceased left his home on 24 April and went to a drinking joint but never returned home and on 25 April he was found lying dead 50 metres away from the drinking joint,” said Nhlane.
He added that the dead body was taken to Bvumbwe research health centre where a post-mortem showed that the deceased died due to internal bleeding and head injuries.
According to Nhlane, police are investigating the murder in order to arrest the culprits.
The law enforcers are also appealing to members of the public to report to the officers around the area anyone suspected to have had a hand in the death of Machinjiri.
The deceased hailed from Malika village, T/A Bvumbwe in Thyolo district.
