Angry mob burn a car for killing four people

Angry villagers in Salima district burnt a vehicle which killed four people in two accidents, about 10 kilometres apart, in the district on Sunday.

The vehicle struck three people of the same family as the driver was running away soon after hitting to death another man.

According to the district’s police relations officer, Sub-inspector Gift Chitowe, the two accidents happened at Mlamba and Chana villages in the district.

road accidentSub-Inspector Chitowe said on this day, a Toyota land cruiser, registration number; BB 920 was heading to Salima from Balaka and upon reaching Chana village, the vehicle hit a 35 year-old cyclist Chipiliro Dzinkambani.

He said the driver, Brian Jafali, did not stop to see the condition of Dzinkambani who died on the spot.

But after fleeing the scene of the accident, the driver hit another cyclist who was travelling with his wife and son. All three died right away.

Chitowe has since identified the deceased family members as Umali Mdala, his wife Miriam Mdala, and their son Abdul Umali, all from Makunya village in the area of Traditional Authority Kambwiri in the district.

Meanwhile, the vehicle has been burnt by some angry villagers who as well wanted to kill the driver.

The driver is receiving medication at Salima hospital as charges of causing death due to reckless driving awaits him.

  4. Let’s be reasonable here I don’t think the driver had intention to kill am sure it was an accident I don’t believe in an eye to an eye burning the car won’t bring the dead to life

    2. #omwale should go and study criminal law….the driver hits a man accidentally and then tries to escpe the scene and then he hits another in the process….what do u think the response will be from the community…. think like it was ur relative bro…what about careless driving??
