TNM commits K15 million to flood victim

In support of government’s initiative to assist those affected by floods and mudslides in Mzuzu and other parts of the Northern Region, TNM has pledged K15 million to flood victims.

TNM’s Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Makata said the assistance was in line with its corporate social responsibly policy.

“TNM as a Malawian mobile company with the welfare of Malawians at heart is deeply touched by the plight of the victims of the floods and torrential rains in the North. Our prayers are with the affected families, especially those that have lost loved ones,” said Makata

Makata added, “This is a natural disaster and our friends in the north did not anticipate this, so as a Malawian brand we felt obliged to be part of this problem because whatever affects Malawi also affects TNM and when we say ‘always with you’, we really mean it” .

He Makata called on other corporate and individuals to join hands with the mobile pioneer on this noble cause.

“TNM believes that it is in unity that a nation is strong and in partnership with the Malawi Red Cross Society, TNM has decided to support those affected by floods. Our appeal is for all corporate companies and all Malawians to joins hands with TNM for this noble cause through donations in cash or kind for our friends affected in the north,” said Makata. “

According to Chief Commercial Officer  Makata for corporate pledges companies can call 0888 366 380 and for individual efforts people can send an SMS “NdifeAmodzi” to 140. The money will be put together and donate to Malawi Red Cross Society .

TNM also gave out minutes of talk time to ease communication to the flood victims immediately the floods occurred.

The areas affected by the floods include Mzuzu, Mzimba, Karonga and Rumphi. In the city of Mzuzu alone, 17,000 were displaced by the torrential rains which destroyed houses, a situation that arose as a result of the city’s poor drainage system.

  1. TNM should not be proud of this rather Malawians should be happy with their input. No corporate/social responsibility from tnm here. Malawians contributed and the mmoney gets publicized in tnm name!!! Too bad.
