Chancellor College through its Law Faculty has conducted awareness campaigns in Phalombe district as one way of reducing albino attacks in the district.
According to legal coordinator at the college’s Faculty of Law Timothy Chirwa, the program aims at making the public aware of the rights of people with albinism.
Chirwa said their desire is to help people understand the rights of albinos, which he said will help end the killings.
“Issues of albino killings and attacks are lacking knowledge to be effective or have an impact to people in the country,” he said.
Chirwa asked the district’s residents to take the issue as important with the aim of reducing the albino attacks.
The killings of albinos and incidents of people tampering with graves of albinos have been on the rise over the past months and police have made several arrests in connection to the attacks.
Recently, President Peter Mutharika vowed to deal with people who abducts albinism in the country.
