The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has suspended two lodges and a bakery in Lilongwe city due to unhygienic conditions at the three premises, just weeks after sealing numerous facilities across the country.

The board has suspended Lingadzi inn, Capital city Motel, and Seven eleven bakery with immediate effect.

In a statement, the bureau said the suspensions are due to noncompliance to hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi standard number 21 of hygienic conditions.

“The MBS wishes to advise the general public against patronizing Lingadzi inn, Capital city motel and seven eleven until the hygienic conditions have been improved and suspension lifted by the MBS,” reads part of the statement by MBS.

The current suspensions has followed the abeyance of Cafe Lounge in Blantyre, Shire highlands Hotel in Limbe and Chibuku Products Limited in Lilongwe.

MSB also banned liquor packed in plastic bottles and sachets impounded in Mulanje in the past three months.
