Breaking: Muluzi’s co-accused, Lyness Whiskey, collapses in Court

Second accused in former Malawi President Bakili Muluzi’s  K1.7 bllion corruption case Lyness Whiskey has collapsed in Blantyre high court today.

According to Judiciary Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula Whiskey started gasping as soon as she got locked in the dock for cross examination this morning.

“I can confirm that she collapsed this morning and she was taken to Blantyre Adventist Hospital for medication” said Mvula.

Whyskey was Bakili Muluzi’s personal assistant. The former Malawi leader is accused of misappropriating over K1.7 billion when he was in power.

The case has stayed on judicial desks for over ten years due Muluzi ailing situation that deteriorates the moment he is taken to court.

Blantyre High Court judge, MacLean Kamwambe, has vowed to bring the trial to its finishing point. But following Lyness Whiskey’s collapse, the judge adjourned the case to Tuesday 19 April 2016.
