Police in Ntchisi district have arrested a 36 year-old man for stealing K1 million from a shop where he was manager.
The incident happened on April 9 2016 at Ntchisi Trading Centre.
Police have identified the suspect as Tiyezge Mzunda and said he was arrested after he failed to account for K1 million realised from the sale of Sobo products.
Police investigations indicate that the suspect who is an employee of Madalitso General Suppliers was deployed at the company’s Ntchisi shop to sell Sobo products in February this year.
On April 9, the manager of Dalitso General Suppliers Blessings Ziliweye went to the shop for stocktaking.
During the process, Mzunda failed to explain how he used the K1 million.
Ziliweye reported the matter to police and the law enforcers arrested Mzunda.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer to the charge of theft by servant.
Mzunda comes from Kanyenjere Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwenewenya in Chitipa.
