The First Grade Magistrate Court in Nkhotakota district has sentenced a 19 year-old man to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour for raping a 14 year-old girl.
According to Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Williams Kaponda, the man, Ben Banda, sexually abused the young girl and later she started showing signs of pregnancy.
Her guardian took her to the hospital where a medical examination confirmed that she had been impregnated.
That is when she revealed that Banda was the one who impregnated her.
Police arrested Banda and in court he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment with hard labour.
The sexual offender hails from Chinthumbwi village, Traditional Authority
Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.
