Police have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of the body of an albino girl who went missing some weeks ago in Kasungu district.
The girl went missing after she was abducted earlier this month at her home in Chiziye village sub-Traditional Authority Kapichira in the district.
According to Kasungu police deputy spokesperson, Harry Nangw’aza, the girl’s remains were found in a decomposed state by her mother in Balantha, which is one of the hills in the district.
The publicist said the mother and a friend went to Balantha hill to fetch firewood but she was saddened to find some body parts of her missing daughter.
He said the mother saw the clothes of her daughter, a skull and also some albino hairs. She then rushed to chief Kapichira who did not hesitate but report the matter to the police.
Nangw’aza said police visited the scene and confirmed the death of the girl.
Police believe the criminals who abducted the girl are the ones who also killed her.
Meanwhile the police have arrested the girl’s father and his friend on suspicion that they were involved in the abduction and killing of the child.
Nangw’aza however said the law enforcers are still investigating the matter.
