From being that scintillating player in the midfield Jaffalie Chande is seeing himself being a malefactor over allegations he forged a shortened duration of his contract with Nyasa Big Bullets, and has now been arrested, Malawi24 has learnt.

He posted on his Facebook Account yesterday of being taken to Blantyre Police Station for questioning.

Malawi24 understands that the law enforcers questioned him on matters about his contract as some reports show that the contract copy he has produced is forged, but he maintains he recognizes that contract which expires in August this year.

He however had not yet responded to Malawi24 when we went to police, so did the police.

The post on Facebook saw him being dubbed a ‘traitor’ by Bullets fans while Nomads fans asked off Bullets to let the player follow his heart.

His much talked move to Be Forward Wanderers from rivals Bullets has seen different copies of contracts being produced by the team, the player and the one his new club (Nomads) understand the player had with the People’s Team.

Chande rejected a contract extension with the Super League champions as he was demanding K3 million signing-on fee.

There is one contract copy signed in August 2014  which states that the duration of the contract is three years.

“This contract will be valid for three years (36 months). It will take effect on 14th August, 2014 and terminate on 13th August, 2017. Upon failure to extend this contract, the player will be at liberty to start contract negotiations with other clubs upon six months upon expiry of this agreement,” reads the document.

But Chande maintains he does recognize that contract. He claims his contract with Bullets is the one which is supposed to end by August 2016 and not 2017 as Bullets says.

The greater part of these controversies also saw Bullets writing to  the Football Association of Malawi (FAM)  and the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) that the contract had gotten missing until they claimed to have found it.

WHERE HORNS ARE LOCKED

The contract Bullets have made available (the one which ends in 2017), provides that it may be terminated by either party without any consequences of any kind where there is just cause.

Chande’s purported contract further states that the agreement cannot be terminated unilaterally in the course of a season, and that the party in breach shall pay compensation.

WHAT RULES SAY 

Fifa’s regulations Article 15 sub-section 15 states that a just cause is permissible when a contracted player has “appeared in fewer than ten per cent of the official matches” for his club or when a club fails to honour contractual obligations.

At the moment, it is reported that there will be a special hearing about the issue this week where football administrators are expected to clear out the mess surrounding the whole saga.

Analysts fear if not well addressed the issues about Chande ould see him remain on the sidelines the whole of the next season which starts just a little over seven days to come.
