The Family Planning Association of Malawi (Fpam) has urged all students doing their tertiary education to remember using condoms during sexual intercourse.

One of Fpam’s officials, Roney Mjozama, was speaking at Chancellor College during a sensitization campaign on the importance of using condoms amongst students under University of Malawi (Unima).

condomsMjozama said it is so painful to see that some graduates from the college do not work for a long time as they die of HIV/AIDS.

She said most HIV positive graduates from Unima get the disease while doing their tertiary education due since that is when they have a lot of unprotected sex.

“We are working with UNFPA reaching all the university students under Unima telling them the importance of using condoms as one way of reducing the spread of HIV/AIDs.

“This is so due to the fact that we want them to contribute to the development of this country and with that reason we thought of bringing this campaign which we are expecting that by the end of the campaign more students will be using the condoms hence HIV/AIDs will be reduced,” said Mjozama

Fpam is having the campaign under the theme “use the condoms rightly and don’t ignore” and is expected to reach all the colleges under University of Malawi.
