The Dowa first grade magistrate court has sentenced a 21 year-old man to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for raping a 10 year-old boy.
The convict, Rodney Kamanga, raped the young boy in January this year at Dowa Boma where the child stays with his parents.
After forcing himself on the little boy, the wicked man gave him boiled Irish potatoes and money amounting to K100 so that he should not tell anyone about ordeal.
The boy however went on to tell his parents about the rape and they reported the matter to Dowa police station.
The law enforcers took the boy to hospital where a medical report from Dowa District Hospital revealed that the child had had carnal knowledge against the order of nature.
In court, police prosecutor sub-inspector Beston Chimbelenga told the magistrate to give the convict a stiff sentence to deter other would-be offenders.
Dowa First Grade Magistrate Imulani Phiri agreed with the state saying the man did a bad act. He then sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour.
Kamanga hails from Mtambo Village Traditional Authority (T/A) Simphasi in Mchinji.
