Nkhotakota police have received a motorcycle and computer set from businessman Napoleon Dzombe and concern universal respectively, a development officers say will curb challenges the station has been facing.

Dzombe, who has a rice factory at Mpamantha in the district, decided to donate a motorcycle to the station after noting the challenges police face in execution of their duties

The donation came barely few days after Dwangwa concern universal donated an HP computer set and printer to the police.

PoliceNkhotakota police station officer in-charge, senior assistant commissioner of police (SACP) Timothy Phiri welcomed the donations as timely.

He said: “Nkhotakota police has only two computers. The coming in of another computer will assist a lot. Officers will stop flocking into one office when they have things that are to be done on computer.”

He also thanked Dzombe for the motorcycle assistance. He said the station has only one motor vehicle hence the assistance is timely and has been received with gratitude.

“We will be able to reach areas which we were unable to reach due to transport problems. For instance, Mkaika police unit has no means of transport unlike Mwansambo which has one motorcycle.  Hence I have decided this motorcycle will serve communities around Mkaika,” said Phiri.

He further asked other individuals, smallholders and companies to emulate what Dzombe and concern universal have done.

Dwangwa concern universal since early this year has been working in partnership with Nkhotakota police under victim support unit (VSU) to end gender based violence (GBV) in the area of traditional chief Mphonde in Nkhotakota district.
