Police arrest two for robbery

Police in the commercial city of Blantyre have arrested two men for the offense of robbery.

The two, Francis Sefu 24 and Chikondi Chiwanga 19, were arrested after they managed to rob Allan Mwafurilwa of money amounting to K700,000 and a laptop.

crime (2)Confirming to Malawi24, Blantyre Police deputy spokesperson Andrew Mayawo said the victim was attacked when he arrived at Chirimba Township in the city.

“The victim went to attend Easter prayers and when he arrived at Chirimba bus depot he was attacked by robbers, lucky enough when he shouted some well-wishers managed to catch one suspect a few meters away from the crime scene,” said Mayawo.

According to Mayawo, Police investigations led to the arrest of the other suspect who was on the run.

The suspects will appear in court to answer charges of robbery with violence contrary to section 301 of Malawi’s penal code.

Sefu hails from Chikoko village, Traditional Authority (TA) Kanyemba in Nkhotakota district while Chiwanga comes from Nselema Village, T/A kapeni in Balaka district.
