This year’s Easter holiday will be memorable in the Malawi’s urban music world as gospel and secular artists in the country will share the same stage.
The show will take place on Easter Saturday in Blantyre.
One of the organizers of the Easter Bash, Horace Mkandawire, said as organizers of the event they thought of mixing secular and gospel artists as a sign of togetherness which is supposed to be demonstrated during the Easter season.
“It’s all about togetherness that we decided to bring both gospel and secular artists together and share the same stage. After all Easter is the season we celebrate the death of Jesus Christ who died for all mankind. The same unity He brought us is what we are bringing,” Mkandawire explained.
Concurring with Mkandwire, Robertson of fast-rising gospel hip hop trio “The Fanatics” said that it is God’s plan for their group to perform at the event adding that for so long gospel artists have been confined to the very same audience that is already saved hence having less impact.
He said: “as The Fanatics, it is God’s plan that we are performing at the Easter Bash this weekend. It is our job to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and for so long we have been performing to an audience that is already saved hence having less impact, a thing which is common among most gospel artists.
“We are the light of this world and God expects us to bring light where darkness abounds so we also hope to win souls there.”
The Easter Urban Bash will take place at Chrichi Multipurpose Gardens (near Chitawira Puma filling station) from 11 am till late.
