They gathered today, in huge numbers just to give their last respects to gospel artist Grace Chinga at Robins Park before her burial at HHI Cemetery. But Robins Park was too small to contain the mammoth crowd.
Group village head Zingwangwa from Blantyre said many Malawians loved musician Grace Chinga hence Robin’s Park was too small for the funeral ceremony.
The traditional leader made the remarks after at Robin’s Park in Blantyre where thousands of people converged today to pay their last respects to gospel songbird. “Sometimes you need to be a little organised, you could have conducted at the stadium because this congestion may cause a lot of problems.
“You should have asked for advice from elders because Grace was not a mere person,” she said.
Robin’s Park was filled to the brim while thousands of people followed the proceedings from outside the hall. They stayed outside until Chinga’s remains came out of the building.
From there, the mourners escorted the singer to her final resting place, HHI cemetery in Blantyre.
Born in 1978, Chinga died on Wednesday night after a short illness and is survived by three children – two boys and a girl.
