A mammoth from all walks of life gathered at Robin’s Park in Blantyre to pay their last respect to Malawi’s Queen of Gospel music, Grace Chinga, who passed away on Wednesday night.
The gathering which included high profile individuals and politicians in attendance, was too big for the hall to accommodate to the extent that some exchanged blows in order to have a glimpse of what was happening inside.
To eulogise her mother, Grace Chinga’s daughter Miracle performed several songs in strong resemblance of her mother’s gem.
Chinga’s died after a very short illness.
Meanwhile, Lyson Sibande, one of the country’s social commentators, has condemned people making unsubstantiated conspiracies into Chinga’s death.
“A lot has been said about the dying of Grace Chinga as if dying is strange. People die because we all must die sooner or later. Dying is a normal process of life…We need to guard our minds from this poor and backwards thinking of always looking for someone who has murdered somebody as if people cant just die without getting murdered” Lyson Sibande rebuked the theorists.
So far, state president Peter Mutharika, ex-Malawi leader Joyce Banda and leader of opposition Lazarus Chakwera have all condoled the bereaved family.
