Officials against change at Bullets face the sack

Officials who do not accept change at Malawi Super league side Nyasa Big Bullets will be sacked, an officials statement from the club has stated.

This comes hot in the heels of leadership wrangles that have hit the Blantyre based club.

According to a a statement signed by Bullets trustees secretary Jim Kalua, this has come after the team officials met with their sponsors Nyasa Manufacturing Company after a heated dispute had rocked the club management.

But the statement says that the meeting the two had, resolved to let the current chairman run the club and not anyone else as it were- a thing which opened the can of worms the power hungry leaders ate.

“All people that are not ready to embrace the modern way of running the team as a business entity must resign or be sacked; for the betterment of the teams’ stakeholders, mainly, supporters and players,” reads

He added: “ The sponsors clearly indicated that they have trust in him due to his credentials, leadership skills and his welfare stance for the players, who are key stakeholders of the team.”

NCM has since said that it is committed to continue sponsoring Bullets “ on condition that the current chairman runs the club.”

Ironically reports the said Chairman Sam Chilunga was reported to have stepped down from his post.

Malawi24 understands that  the Peoples team has among other reasons seen its management divided on the recent choice of coach Franco Ndawa as the new mentor for the club.

Minor committees have been against Chilunga’s leadership with the novelty they have been bringing to the club, before the finger pointing row actually got ignited.

It is also said that the team management has gone separate ways with a reported idea to increase the allowances for the players, as proposed by Chilunga.

This had left NCM with no option but to call for an emergency meeting two days ago where the issues are said to have apparently been resolved.

NCY had wrote in a statement last week that “We have been following events surrounding the club in the media newsprint and the social media. As the chairman of Nyasa, I am very concerned with the bad publicity the team is getting, which is directly affecting us as a partner.

“We therefore would like to warn your Board and Executive Committee that you risk the embarrassment of losing another sponsorship if this does not stop and the current leadership and contractual obligations are not supported,” reads part of the letter signed by the company’s Chairman Konrad Buckle.

Bullets officials have since been asked to clean up their mess so that they sustain their sponsorship with NYC having spent years without a sponsor.
