A 25 year-old Malawian woman was arrested on Friday in South Africa for being found with cocaine.
The woman was traveling to South Africa from Malawi and she was caught with 3Kgs of cocaine at the Beitbridge border post.
“The officers had stopped a bus which had just entered the country from Malawi. The narcotics dog led the officers to a bag which was in possession of the Malawian woman. Upon searching the bag, the Hawks found a white powder mixed with rice which was wrapped in newspapers,” said a spokesperson for South Africa’s priority crime investigation department.
Police said the powder was found to be cocaine worth R1.6 million (about K72 million).
According to the police, the woman will appear at the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs.
