Ahead of a crucial encounter in group L African Cup of Nations encounter away to Guinea on 23 March, the Malawi national football team will play Sierra Leone, officials have confirmed.

According to the Flames team manager, Clement Kafwafwa  the team leaves the country on Sunday but will stopover in Sierra Leone for the friendly in the midweek.

It is also expected that most professional players who have not joined the camp yet will be with th team when it arrives in Guinea due to continued club commitments in the Rainbow nation.

Kafwawa says that Sierra Leone accepted their proposal for the frednly out of the other teams that got approached.

Reports showed that the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) had approached Ghana among other teams.

At the moment, the Flames camp is excepted to receive boosts from Mozambican based players, midifielder Chimango Kaira and goal keeper Charles Swini.

The Flames will host the National Elephants four days later.

Malawi is third with a point, 3 points behind leaders Swaziland and a win against Guinea will see the side increasing the chances of making it to Gabon.
