Malawian woman poisons five people in Mangochi

Malawi Police officers in Mangochi district  are hunting for a woman who has poisoned five members of her neighbors family.

Mangochi Police public relations officer Rodrick Maida said the woman brews local binge (Kachasu) in her area where she is popularly known as Mai Wabwino (A good mother).

According to the police publicist, the woman prepared vegetables which she had poisoned and gave them to her neighbour.

He said the woman’s aim was for her neighbors husband to eat the vegetables though the police publicist didn’t say why the woman wanted the man killed.

However, the unsuspecting man ate the poisoned vegetables and shared them with four other members of his family. All the five later became unconscious.

Community members rushed with them to hospital and Maida says they are now responding well to treatment.
