Carlsberg Malawi Limited has pledged to support the Malawi Blood Transfusion (MBTS) in their blood collection efforts.
The beverages manufacturer made the commitment on Thursday after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with MBTS.
In the MoU, Carlsberg has agreed to be supplying 30 crates of soft drinks to MBTS every month for a period of three years.
According to marketing director of the Carlsberg Malawi limited, Gwyneth Mchiela, the development will cost the institution K3 million for the agreed period and says they will make sure that the agreement is applied.
“Carlsberg Malawi Limited has made a pledge to support Malawi Blood Transfusion Service in their effort to correcting blood and saving lives. We are supporting them by providing them with soft drinks with 30 crates in a month for three years,” said Mchiela.
She said blood donors need to supplement their bodies for that particular moment with fluids and being one of the companies in the country producing these drinks they saw it vital to help MBTS with the drinks. She added that their employs will be donating blood through the blood donation campaign.
Reacting to the development, MBTS finance and administration director, Lillian Kamanga said the support has come at the right time considering the hard times the country is experiencing. She said this will help them when collecting blood.
