Wizards: Want Super league come back.

Wizards technical director Peter Mponda says his team is well prepared ahead of the Super League playoffs which will be played this weekend.

The playoffs will be contested by three relegated teams – Wizards, Dedza Young Soccer and Airborne Rangers – and the winner will return to the Super League.

“Wizards are very ready for the play-offs and we will do anything beyond our powers to return to the elite league this season,” said Mponda after leading his team to a 2-1 victory over Mighty Be forward Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking about the new look Wizards team which is comprising of a lot of youngsters, the former Flames defender said he is confident that the kids will do the job of taking Wizards back into the Super League.

“You may underrate these youngsters but we have been with them for a long time and they know how we play and am very confident that they will take the team back into the Super League because they are good players,” Mponda said.

Earlier this year, Wizards lost seven of their key players including midfielders Rafiq Namwera, Levison Maganizo and Ernest Tambe, goalkeeper Brighton Munthali, and defender Mark Fodya.

Meanwhile, Wizards are slowly making strides and in their last three friendly matches they have played against Big Bullets and Mighty Wanders but they have won 2 and drawn the other one.

Such performances could mean that they will they will be a much improved side during the playoffs.

This will be the first time in the history of Malawian football for the Super League to have playoffs.
