A 40 year-old man is in police custody for raping a 12 year-old girl in Dwangwa, police say.
The man Kennedy Chidothi, raped the girl after she had gone to his house to play with her friends.
Public relations officer for Nkhunga police station in Nkhotakota sub-inspector Laban Makalani said when police interrogated the pervert; he admitted that he had raped the girl.
According to Makalani, a medical examination at Nkhunga health centre revealed that the girl was raped and that it has been happening for some time now.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer charges of defilement under section 138 of the penal code.
