
Fire has gutted a vehicle loaded with My Gold Tea belonging to an Asian businessman, police say.
The vehicle registration number BQ492 belongs to Zoona Trading Company which is based in the capital city Lilongwe.
Speaking to Malawi24, Dedza police deputy spokesperson Cassim Manda said the vehicle was loaded with My Gold Tea worth over 42 million Kwacha.
“The vehicle was coming from Blantyre heading to Lilongwe loaded with My Gold Tea, upon reaching Mkomeka turn off near Linthipe River one of the tyres burst leading to serious fire,” said Manda.
Manda further said that the driver Henry Juriyo managed to come out of the vehicle but lost money amounting to K80,000 in the inferno.
