The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) has condemned opposition parties for using the maize crisis to criticize the ruling government.
According to ADMARC, the opposition parties have used the maize crisis to win favours from the general public.
Speaking to the local press, ADMARC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Foster Mulumbe blamed the opposition for creating public stress over the staple grain.
“The opposition are now using maize crisis as their propaganda, but this shouldn’t be in that way, this is a serious issue and I don’t think people are supposed to be using the crisis for campaigning for their parties,” said Mulumbe.
He further said that ADMARC has now distributed maize in their satellite depots across the country for citizens to have food.
“We have even published in the newspapers how we have distributed maize in all the regions of the country,” added Mulumbe.
During budget review, the opposition parties blamed government for the hunger crisis in the country.
The parties further described the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government as “professional liars” arguing that they have not yet procured maize from other countries as they earlier claimed.

I was wondering when mr Mulumbe would be spoon fed, now he has. He has been quiet since the maize shortage started biting. Now he is telling us what we discussed and concluded sometime back. Opposition parties are not to blame. You educated people should perform as if you went to college(s). The govt was given money by parliament to buy maize and it didn’t. Who do we blame? Do not be in the habit of ashaming yourself in public, people might take you for a fool.
