The Malawi Government has asked opposition parties to stop criticising it and instead to start presenting solutions to the problems facing Malawians.
This follows remarks made by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwila who said government has failed Malawians especially on the hunger situation.
“The DPP government has failed the country as people are sleeping on an empty stomach and we as the opposition will always speak what is true,” said Kabwila.
She further said that people in the country are in deep problems and want the president to step down because he has failed.
However, government spokesperson Jappie Mhango said the opposition are supposed to assist government and not to criticise for the sake of criticising.
“The opposition is there to assist government in bringing solutions to the problems facing the country,” said Mhango.
He added that in Malawi the opposition are always criticising the government rather than bringing solutions.
Mhango has since called upon the opposition to provide their contributions on how government can solve problems facing the country.

Hunger situation can hardly be blamed on anyone, as for this year is just aftermath of the floods we had in January 2014. Its not any political Party, this 2016, we are experiencing drought in some parts of the country, ita neither me nor you…its climate change effects. For sure, this year 2016 end thru 2017…hunger will be more than now. We are saying 2014 thru 2015 was due to floods, just a few districts, but now the districts with no rains are more than those got affected by floods in 2014. Climate change effects are man made…am one of them, hence the need for collective efforts in reducing this hunger situation. The Govt. Needs SOLUTIONS to the problem HUNGER..for us who are not in Govt, what would we do if we were given the chance today to provide SOLUTIONS to the problem not just criticise. If SOLUTIONS are provided and the Govt fails to implement, then we will say indeed its a failed Govt. We need also to be mindful that not all solutions are right solution to the problem at hand unless CORRECT ONES. The question for us as citizen is WHAT SHOULD WE TELL GOVT TO DO TO SOURCE ENOUGH MAIZE..?The hunger situation is no one’s fault..
