Couple arrested over rape of 12 year-old

Machinga Police have arrested a 42-year-old man and his wife in connection with the rape of a 12 year-old girl who was living with the couple.

Police are keeping in custody the man for raping the girl while his 40 year-old wife who is also the girl’s grandmother has been arrested for helping the rapist force himself on the minor.

arrestedMachinga police public relations officer, Davie Sulumba identified the man as 42 year-old Jafari Anusa and the woman as Ellebe Jafari.

Sulumba said Anusa has been forcing himself on his granddaughter with help from his wife Jafari since 2014 when the girl started living with the two.

Sulumba said that the first incident happened when Jafari was in the bathroom and Anusa dragged the victim to his bedroom where he raped her and put the sperms into a bottle.

After Ellebe came out of the bathroom she took some of the sperms and mixed them with water which the man later used for bathing.

Sulumba added that after a month the man repeated the ordeal and they kept doing this until this year when the victim reported the matter to her mother who later reported it to police.

Police arrested the two suspects and they are in custody waiting to appear before court.

Anusa hails from Nsanama Village in the area of Sub-Traditional Authority Nsanama in Machinga whereas his wife comes from Khuzumba village in the area of Traditional Authority Kawinga in the same district.
