Police officers armed to the teeth stormed Jessie Kabwila’s house in Area 36 in Lilongwe on Sunday morning and turned the place upside down, trying to find the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson.

According to reports, Kabwila was not at the house when the armed officers invaded her residence, but the police found her mother, Valesha Kabwila.

Valesha confirmed the terrifying incident and said she is worried about the whereabouts of her daughter.

“In the morning around 6 o’clock, seven police officers came in searching for my daughter, I have tried to call her but she is out of reach and I don’t know whether she is alive,” said Valesha Kabwila.

According to reports, Kabwila has gone into hiding, fearing for her arrest.

Kabwila is reported to be on the run after she heard that the police will be coming after her for calling for the resignation of President Peter Mutharika at the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting in Blantyre last week.

Kabwila is on record to have told members of the press that the president should be impeached arguing that he is responsible for the challenges that have rocked the country.

“If a car is taking a wrong direction, all the passengers look at the driver, he should just say goodbye to the country,” said Kabwila.
