An official from the ministry Morris M’bang’ombe said they are impressed with the turnout of people for the vaccine which shows that they have welcomed the vaccine.

”We are impressed with the turnout as people have come in large numbers, something we did not expect,” said M’bang’ombe.

He added that every person in the area is supposed to receive the vaccine which will keep them immune to Cholera for a period of five years.

”This vaccine will be given to people in two phases and it will make them immune for a period of five years,” he said.

M’bang’ombe also said they believe that at the end of the first phase of the Cholera vaccine they will reach their target.

Last year, the ministry conducted a similar exercise in Nsanje district where it targeted 160,000 people who were living in camps for people affected by floods.
