The Zomba magistrate court has sentenced three Malawians and a Mozambican to four years imprisonment with hard labour for being found guilty of possessing bones.
The bones are being suspected to be of a person with albinism. 
Phalombe police publicist Augustus Nkhwazi said the four got nabbed some weeks ago and they were being kept at Phalombe police station as they were waiting to appear before court to answer charges of being found in possession of human bones.
Nkhwazi said Phalombe police received a tip from the general public that the four were doing an illegal business as they were seen attempting to sell human bones.
According to Nkhwazi, police launched investigations and they netted the four who later admitted to have been trying to sell the bones.
Passing judgment, the Zomba Principal Resident Magistrate, Gift Mankhanje said he sentenced the three to four years imprisonment with hard labour to deter potential offenders.
He said people with albinism in this country are living in fear because of people who thinks albinos’ bones bring good luck.
Recently, human rights activists faulted the courts for the rise in the malpractices saying offenders are being given lesser punishment.
