Kelvin Gonani condemned by gay activists

…fellow gays beat Gonani for prostituting his 9 year old nephew

In what was earlier dubbed to be violence against gays, Malawi24 has established that a gay man in Lilongwe was not beaten for his sexual orientation.

Man beaten for 'being gay' in Malawi
Gonani offered 9 year old boy to be raped by 43 year old gay man

According to multiple sources that spoke to Malawi24 investigative journalists, the man who was earlier said to have suffered the serious injuries for his being homosexual was actually beaten by fellow homosexuals and not because he is gay.

“Everyone knows that Kelvin Gonani (the man) is a homosexual and nobody has bothered to beat him up. The issue was that he was offering his nephew for prostitution and that is the reason why he was beaten up,” said a source contradicting the information spread by activist Billy Mayaya that Gonani was beaten by a mob for being gay.

“What happened is that Gonani was offering a 9 year old nephew to a fellow gay man in Biwi, the man is in his 40s. This did not go down well with his fellow gays who felt that he was tarnishing their image and they started beating him up,” said another source.

Malawi24 has established that Kelvin Gonani was offering his 9 year old nephew to a 43 year old gay man Joe Pafupi who wanted to rape the nephew for a fee that would go into Gonani’s pockets. It was after the news had reached other gays that they decided to attack Gonani.

However last night Facebook had been awash with the story that Gonani had been attacked by a mob at Crossroads for his sexual orientation.

“Nothing could be further from the truth than that. The attack had nothing to do with his sexual orientation and we are actually asking the police to apprehend Gonani for child trafficking and Pafupi should be arrested for related crimes,” said another source.

In the wake of the rumours that Gonani had been beaten for being gay however most Malawians took to social media to approve of the beating while others condemned it strongly.

  1. After reading comments; I seriously have to question about the “Warm Heart of Africa” Malawians uphold and whether there truly is fair and just legal system? How can one truly compare child prostitution to being gay? As if being gay is a crime.
Such ignorant homophobia comments are backed up against patriotism and religion but in the same breath go against both.
Even the reporting sticks of rumour than professional reporting.

    1. Some if not most of the online papers in Malawi are not credible and should not be taken seriously – more like gossip columns Most comments are from ignorant people who are not exposed to world affairs.

    2. I’ll say! However, after following the page and picking up on the mentality of the reporting and people’s comments; it still speaks volumes.

  13. That’s why we are saying no to homosexuality. These guys are sick and do not think straight. How can a man in his right senses offer a 9 year old boy for prostitution for his own benefit. These people need spiritual deliverance. Many of the evil acts in our midst are being perpetrated by them.
