Minister of local government and rural development Kondwani Nankhumwa says Mbulumbuzi market in Chiradzulu district will be opened soon.

Construction of the new Mbulumbuzi market was completed in 2015 but the market is not functioning due to what government said was the lack of water and electricity.

Nankhumwa: Confirmed the news.

However, speaking to Chiradzulu district council officials when he went to appreciate the progress of a new district administration block, Nankhumwa ensured vendors and officials that the market will start functioning soon.

“Now I am happy to report that the market is electrified and water is running which is convenient for prospective vendors and consumers,” said Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa added that his ministry has hired a consultant who will certify the market. Local Development Fund financed the construction of the market to the tune of K290 million.

Mbulumbuzi market is located along Limbe-Zomba road and is used by people from different areas since it is the biggest market in Chiradzulu.
