Immigration spokesperson for the Central Region Eraki Banda said they have started by meeting chiefs in the country.

Banda said they began with the chiefs because they play a role during the process of getting a passport since they put their signatures on the passport forms.

He added that the chiefs are also targeted by people when it comes to passports as such they need to understand the issue of corruption so that they can also relay the messages to their subjects.

“Chiefs have authority over the subjects to explain better on the corruption issues,” Banda explained.

According to Banda, people also consult chiefs in the area on everything concerned with registration as such they decided to get to them first.

So far, the campaign has been conducted in areas of Traditional Authority Nkumbira in Nkhatabay and in some areas in Mzimba district.
