At a time when dust is refusing to settle within the Malawi’s opposition party, United Democratic Front (UDF) over who should discharge core duties, the party’s national executive committee (NEC) has obtained an injunction against suspended Vice President Iqbar Omar and two others officials.
The injunction aims at restraining Omar and the other two – Zaituna Yusuf who was expelled while serving as deputy director of women and Dinocius Magombo – from conducting meetings or any other activities using the party’s symbol, slogan or colours.
The injunction was granted by Judge Lloyd Muhara on Monday.
According to UDF’s Publicist, Ken Ndanga, the injunction was obtained after Omar was found conducting activities using party colours even though he is suspended.
Recently, Omar dragged party president Atupele Muluzi to court saying the UDF president should prove claims that the embattled vice president was forming parallel structures and that he once sent thugs to attack Muluzi at his residence.
