Guards cause mayhem at KCN

Security officers working for S.K Security Guards stormed Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN) Lilongwe campus on Monday demanding that the college to pay a debt it owes the guards’ security firm.

Malawi24 understands that the college owes the security company a whooping MK6 million and the guards believes that KCN’s failure to pay the debt is the reason they are yet to be paid their salaries.

The guards then decided to invade the college where they caused mayhem and stopped vehicles from entering the campus.

Malawi24 has learnt that the contract between S.K and KCN expired on January 31, 2016 and the guards also knew that KCN was no longer their company’s client.

However, the guards said that the college’s failure to settle the debt was still a blow to them since their bosses used the unpaid balance as an excuse for delayed salaries.

‘’Our salaries are delayed because KCN failed to pay in time.  This is why we did that protest today,” said one guard.

S.K officials have since confirmed about the unsettled dues but could not be drawn to comment on when KCN has agreed to pay the money.
