Xenophobia attacks imminent in SA

There are fears of a possible flare-up of violence against foreign nationals in South Africa.

Foreigners in the rainbow nation have been receiving warnings that attacks against them are imminent.

According to a message circulating on messaging app Whatsapp, South Africans will again use violence to flush all foreigners out of the country.

Beitbridge“They (The South Africans) are now organising another system of chasing all Foreigners in their country after Easter holiday this year of 2016, so please let’s all Foreigners prepare on ourselves because this system is now going to happen all over in South Africa not only in Durban. Send this message to every Foreigner before that time so that we can all get enough time to prepare and get ready for any attack. Please we are family let’s alert others [sic],” reads part of the message.

Last week, Economic Freedom Fighter (EEF) leader Julius Malema urged the South African government to scrap visa regulations for all “African brothers” so that they are not discouraged from visiting South Africa.

South Africa imposed tough Visa regulations aimed at blocking the flow of foreign nationals.

Last year, there were running battles in some parts of South Africa as crowds attacked foreign-owned shops and immigrants.
The Xenophobic attacks were triggered after Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini said in remarks to the media that foreigners should “pack their bags and go home”.

There are no rumours of xenophobic attacks here. If people are receiving whatsapp messages they can go open intimidation cases with police and even report to local media. I don’t know whether this is a ploy to distract the world from the horrific crimes being committed by Malawians against their people with albinism and the elderly, killing them merciless for imaginary crimes of witchcraft with police and politicians who have no interest in fighting this scourge and the inciting of violence against people whose only crime was to be born with a different sexual orientation. Malawians should be showing us the world, like we marched against Xenophobia that they are against these atrocities being perpetuated in the name of superstitions and religion.

If people are receiving whatsapp messages they can go open intimidation cases with police and even report to local media.
