Malawi’s Chileka based Reggae grouping The Black Missionaries have fired the two Chokani brothers, Malawi24 understands.

According to reports, Paul and Takudziwani Chokani who used to play drums and lead guitar respectively have been shown the exit door from the Chileka outfit.

The reports say that the Chokani brothers have been dismissed for setting up parallel structures, a crime similar to the one that was committed by former president Joyce Banda and led to her exit from the DPP.
The Chokani brothers had revived The Wailing Brothers and one of their songs has been enjoying airplay on both radio and television.

Earlier, Ma Blacks and the Chokani brothers had both indicated that the formation of the new group did not mean that there was trouble among the remnants of Evison Matafale.

  68. Guys, these guys had their own group before Black Missionaries was formed. Don’t mislead people by saying they have been fired. They have a lot of potential as Wailing brothers. It’s really bad to see these guys disband from Blacks but what is, has got to be. Why keeping so much talent in one place when they can start their own thing and help or employ other upcoming talents too just like the Blacks did? Just think about what happened with Bob Marley and the Wailer then you will find an answer. Let us just regard it as Black Missionaries bearing fruits now. Reggae music is not about competition but a mission.

    4. They are not only good in playing instruments. Takudziwani is a vocalist too. I listened to his demos way back in early ninties even before Matafale emerged and it was inspiring. By the way, listen to their new, first album, you can see they have a good start

After all, these guys did not join Black missionaries but are founding members as well as they originated from Wailing Brothers with Matafale. Dont bring divisions.     1. I as an International musician I see no problem on what these brothers are doing. One has the right to do any kind of business on his time. As long as these people still respect their Band practice time and the all schedules of the Black missionaries. This is how the Bands operate in the morden world, unless if their constitution doesn’t allow them to do so.
