According to a statement released and signed by Executive Director for HESL&GB, Chris Chisoni, the supplementary list has been produced after the screening of the loan application forms that were submitted late.

He said most of the forms were from students whose colleges were on holiday when the advert for the loan application was made in August 2015.

“A total of 1972 late applicants were screened and 373 students across the public and private universities have been granted the loans,” said Chisoni in the statement.

Initially, government granted the loans to 4166 needy students.

It means, in this financial year 2015/16, 4474 students have been granted loans by the Board out of 10,198 students that applied for the loans.

A total of MK1.25 billion will be disbursed to needy students.

Meanwhile, the board has announced that it has stopped receiving loan application forms for 2015/16 financial year.
