Man netted for theft

Malawi Police in Limbe have arrested 58 year-old Westgate Solomon for stealing various household items from a house in Blantyre.

The items include a desktop computer, a home theatre, a super radio and a DVD player.

CourtAccording to assistant public relations officer for Limbe Police, Widson Nhlane, a man who resides in Blantyre told the police at the end of last year that unknown criminals had broken into his house and had stolen home appliances.

Nhlane said police launched investigations and on Thursday officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) managed to arrest the suspect.

He added that the police recovered the items and they have been identified by the owner.

Police have since urged the public to continue tipping them about people they suspect to be criminals and who are terrorising their areas.

Solomon hails from Njobvu village, T/A Tengani in Nsanje district and will appear before court soon to answer charges of theft.
