Roman Catholic Priest attacked, property stolen

Armed robbers last night in Luchenza Municipality, Thyolo district attacked a Roman Catholic Priest and a seminarian at Mendulo Parish before going away with with money and phones and others properties, reports say.

crime (2)According to reports the thieves broke into Father Focus Chikweya’s house where he was with a seminarian Brother Daniel Kambalame around midnight.

It is said that the robbers overcame guards at the church before they turned their mission to the priests residence.

”They threatened the Priest and the seminarian and they forced their way to steal phones and other gadgets before they stole money from them” said an inside source on Tuesday morning.

The robbers then drove away in speed and are feared to have used the Mulanje road traveling to Mocambique.

Police are yet to give full details of the matter but they have reportedly launched a manhunt of the robbers.
